Yes, it is recommended that your pet have an annual wellness visit with their veterinarian. This visit includes a general health assessment and may or may not include parasite testing, vaccinations, and other tests depending on the age and breed of your pet.
During an annual wellness exam, your veterinarian will perform a physical examination of your pet which may include checking their temperature, heart rate, breathing rate, eyesight and hearing. They will also check for any signs of parasites or infection. Additionally, they may recommend blood work or other diagnostic tests to ensure your pet's overall health.
It is recommended that all dogs have a complete physical check-up at least once per year. This “wellness exam” helps to determine your dog's current health and treat any problems that may occur.
Even if your pet appears perfectly healthy, it is still important to bring them in for an annual check-up. These routine medical exams help to detect any underlying issues that you may not be aware of as well as provide an opportunity for you to ask questions and express any concerns you have about your pup.
